+-Los Angeles: Katie Holmes walked away without a payment or alimony in her divorce with Tom Cruise,

  • Los Angeles: Katie Holmes walked away without a payment or alimony in her divorce with Tom Cruise, but the couple's six-year-old daughter, Suri, stands to receive $400,000 annually in child support until she turns 18, celebrity website TMZ.com reported on Friday.

Citing sources familiar with court documents filed by the former couple, whose divorce was finalized earlier this week, TMZ said the 'TomKat' pre-nuptial agreement blocked Holmes from receiving any portion of the 50-year-old actor's $250 million fortune.

But Cruise will make child-support payments over the next 12 years that add up to $4.8 million, or $33,333.33 a month. TMZ also reported that Cruise must pay Suri's medical, education and extracurricular expenses.

Cruise's attorney declined to comment on the report, and a lawyer for Holmes did not respond to Reuters' request for confirmation.

Holmes, 33, surprised Cruise in late June when she filed for divorce from the 'Mission: Impossible' star after a nearly six-year marriage. Cruise was in Iceland shooting a movie at the time.

The divorce, which took less than two weeks to settle, captivated the world and prompted questions about whether Suri will be raised in the Church of Scientology, with which her father has long been closely associated.

Mumbai: Top International Cricket Council ( ICC) umpire Asad Rauf has been accused by a Mumbai-based model, Leena Kapoor, of sexually exploiting her for several months after promising marriage.

Rauf, who is a Pakistani, has been coming to India for several cricket tournaments, including the Indian Premier League, during which Leena alleges they had a relationship.

But Rauf is not the only sportsperson to attain fame for his 'extracurricular act'. Here're a few others who were caught pants down.

In 2010, Indian hockey was rattled by a sex scandal after player TS Ranjitha accused veteran coach MK Kaushik of sexually exploiting her. Ranjitha alleged that Kaushik had for more than a year repeatedly dropped hints to her of a sexual nature which over time became blatant attempts at propositioning her. "One day during the camp in Bhopal, Kaushik sir called me to his room and asked me whether I had had sex. I was quiet for a while, then he said, there is nothing wrong with it, it's good to have sex. I told my senior that Kaushik sir spoke to me in a disgusting manner, and I could not understand why. But I remained quiet about the incident," she said.

Proteas batsman Herschelle Gibbs was implicated in a new sex video scandal. Gibbs was apparently filmed on a security camera while having a wild night out with an unknown friend at an exclusive Cape Town sex club. The video showed four naked women touching Gibbs and his friend intimately. The incident apparently took place in October 2008, shortly after Gibbs’ divorce from Tenielle Povey and before Gibbs underwent rehabilitation for an alcohol problem. Gibbs has also written an autobiography where he has exposed the dark side of South African cricket. The book says during the Proteas tour of Australia in 1997/98, they apparently saw a pretty girl at the bar and things got a little ‘un-Victorian’ as the girl revealed to be a stripper. There was lots of booze and in his own words, “Things loosened up a lot more after that. Various items of clothing were removed in an eyebrow-raising kind of way, and one thing invariably led to another."

Legendary bowler Shane Warne triggered a storm after his sleazy pictures with two British models went online. The randy Aussie cricket ace had model pals Emma Kearney and Coralie Eichholtz in a spin as he topped their wonderful figures again and again in a memorable innings at Emma's flat in 2006. Shameless Shane, 36, even got his two wicked maidens to play with a giant inflatable middle stump as he showed just why his marriage to long-suffering wife Simone has been reduced to ashes. In 2000, scandal ridden Aussie Test cricketer was hit with yet another scandal when it was revealed he had made obscene phone calls to an English woman while overseas, away from his wife and kids. The scandal hit the British and Aussie press. Pictures revealed that an aggressive and arrogant Warne was clowning around for sex.

The world's No. 1 golfer, Tiger Woods, and his Swedish wife, Elin Nordegren, divorced in 2010 following the torrid sex scandal that engulfed Woods in 2009. Woods, 34, allegedly paid the two women $2,000 each for what she described as "dirty" sex. The incident brought the total of Woods' mistresses to 15 in his five-year marriage.

All Kevin 'KP' Pietersen needed to complete his English cultural assimilation was a tabloid kiss-and- tell with some publicity-hungry minor celebrity. And ... check. During the fourth Test at Trent Bridge in 2005, Brit rag The People ran an interview with one of KP's conquests, Big Brother 'beauty' and fellow-South African Vanessa Nimmo. Pietersen had dumped Nimmo by SMS after a stormy, one-month affair, and - in true tabloid style - Nimmo spared no detail of their intimate moments. "Kevin was desperate for sex and kept pester- ing me all day," the jilted lover revealed. "I certainly wasn't hit for six by his performance," the spurned woman claimed. "Kevin Cheatersen," the muck-raking tabloid giggled.

Just before jetting out to a tournament in Singapore in 2000, Shahid Afridi, Atiq-uz-Zaman and Hasan Raza were caught entertaining a group of young ladies in their Karachi hotel rooms. The players insisted that the girls had merely "come to collect autographs" ... but the PCB didn't believe a word of it. All three players were fined and banned from the upcoming ICC hampions Trophy event in Kenya. Poor old Afridi took it the hardest: "My father, other and brothers have been very critical of my actions," he wailed. "They have been reprimanding me since the incident came into focus. It will be very difficult to turn around my career after this but I will surely give it my best shot."

South African cheerleader Gabriella Pasqualotto has become an internet sensation and a mini-celebrity back home after being kicked out of the IPL for secretly blogging on player behavior in post-match parties. The 22-year-old Gabriella, from Pietermaritzburg, was one of the 40 South African cheerleaders in the IPL and was employed by Mumbai Indians. She reportedly wrote about "flirtatious" and "inappropriate" behavior by the cricketers and even mentioned some of them. South African media reported that her blogs created "privacy concerns" for the players. Gabriella told the press she believed many cheerleaders had intimate relations.

As an agreement of his marriage, Khan spent four months a year in England. In 2004, the couple divorced because it was "difficult for Jemima to adapt to life in Pakistan".

During 1970s and 1980s, Khan became known as a socialite due to his "non-stop partying" at London nightclubs such as Annabel's and Tramp, though he claims to have hated English pubs and to never drink alcohol. 26/11: If executed, Kasab will be 52nd person to be hanged

  • New Delhi: With the Supreme Court confirming the death sentence awarded to 26/11 accused Ajmal Kasab, he has become the 309th prisoner on death row in India.
If executed, he will be the 52nd person to be hanged since Independence.
India has in all 309 death row convicts, while Maharashtra where Kasab is lodged, has 39 of them. The state that tops this list is Bhar with 80 death row convicts while Uttar Pradesh [ Images ] comes next with 72.
Kasab will in all probability be hanged at Yerawada jail in Pune. There are two gallows in Maharashtra, one at Yerawada and the other at Nagpur. The state government may, however, choose the Yerawada jail for his hanging since it is closer to the place where Kasab is lodged, and this would reduce the risk while transporting him to the gallows.

Mission Mumbai: Kasab was trained to kill to the last breath

  • New Delhi: In 1990, three-year-old Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab's mother hid in a windowless room, shielding her baby son, while shots rang out in the dark outside the family home in an impoverished and isolated village of Punjab.

Not even in the wildest dreams, Noor Illahi had thought that her son would one day become one of the dreaded terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

His village of Faridkot is quite impoverished and isolated, despite being close to a larger town, Depalpur. On the side of a building, just outside Faridkot, graffiti in large lettering says, in Urdu, "Go for jihad. Go for jihad. Markaz Dawat ul-Irshad". Markaz Dawat ul-Irshad is a parent organisation of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Kasab left home after a fight with his father in 2005. He had asked for new clothes on Eid, but his father could not provide them, which made him angry. He then became involved in petty crime with his friend Muzaffar Lal Khan, soon moving on to armed robbery.

On December 21, 2007, Eid al-Adha, they were in Rawalpindi trying to buy weapons when they encountered members of Jama'at-ud-Da'wah, the political wing of Lashkar-e-Taiba, distributing pamphlets. After a brief chat, they decided to sign up for training, ending up at their base camp, Markaz Taiba.

Kasab is the only attacker captured alive by police during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and is currently in Indian custody. Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, a senior commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, reportedly offered to pay his family Rs 150,000 for his participation in the attacks. Another report said the 23-year-old was recruited from his home, in part, based on a pledge by recruiters to pay Rs 100,000 to his family when he became a martyr. Other sources put the reward to US $4,000.

The Government of Pakistan initially denied that Kasab was from Pakistan, but in January 2009, they officially accepted that he is a Pakistani citizen.

On May 3, 2010, an Indian court convicted him of murder, waging war on India, possessing explosives, and other charges. On May 6, 2010, the same trial court sentenced him to death on four counts and to a life sentence on five other counts.

Kasab has been sentenced to death for attacking Mumbai and killing 166 people on November 26, 2008. He was found guilty of 80 offences, including waging war against the nation, which is punishable by the death penalty. Kasab's death sentence was upheld by the Bombay High Court on February 21, 2011. The verdict was upheld by the Supreme Court on August 29, 2012.

Kasab was trained to "kill to the last breath"

Kasab is alleged to be among a group of 24 men, who received training in marine warfare at a remote camp in mountainous Muzaffarabad in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. Part of the training is reported to have taken place on the Mangla Dam reservoir.

The batch of 26 went through the following stages of training:

Psychological: Indoctrination to Islamist propaganda, including compiled footage of Indian atrocities in Jammu & Kashmir, and imagery of atrocities suffered by Muslims in India, Chechnya, Palestine and across the globe.

Basic Combat: Lashkar's basic combat training and terror methodology course, the Daura Aam.

Advanced Training: Selected to undergo advanced combat training at a camp near Mansehra, a course the organisation calls the Daura Khaas. This includes advanced weapons and explosives training supervised by retired personnel of the Pakistan Army, along with survival training and further indoctrination.

Commando Training: Finally, an even smaller group selected for specialised commando tactics training and marine navigation training given to the Fedayeen unit selected in order to target Mumbai.

From the batch of 25, 10 were handpicked for the Mumbai mission. They also received training in swimming and sailing, besides the use of high-end weapons and explosives under the supervision of LeT commanders. According to a media report citing an unnamed former Defence Department Official of the US, the intelligence agencies of the US had determined that former officers from Pakistan's Army and Inter-Services Intelligence agency assisted actively and continuously in training. They were given blueprints of all the four targets – Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Oberoi Trident hotel and Nariman House.

Kasab was captured on CCTV during his attacks at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus along with another terrorist, Ismail Khan. Kasab reportedly told the police that they wanted to replicate the Islamabad Marriott hotel attack, and reduce the Taj Hotel to rubble, replicating the 9/11 attacks in India.

Kasab and his accomplice Abu Dera Ismail Khan, 25, attacked the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (formerly Victoria Terminus) railway station. They then moved on to attack a police vehicle (a white Toyota Qualis) at Cama Hospital, in which senior Mumbai police officers Maharashtra ATS Chief Hemant Karkare, encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar and Additional Commissioner of Mumbai Police Ashok Kamte were travelling.

After killing them in a gun battle and taking two constables hostage in the Qualis, Kasab and Ismail Khan drove towards Metro cinema. Kasab joked about the bulletproof vests worn by the police and killed one constable when his mobile phone rang. They fired some shots into a crowd gathered at Metro Cinema. They then drove towards Vidhan Bhavan where they fired a few more shots. Their vehicle had a tire puncture, so they stole a silver Å koda Laura and drove towards Girgaum Chowpatty.

The Å koda reached Chowpatty and halted 40 to 50 feet from the barricade. It then reversed and tried to make a U-turn. A shootout ensued and Ismail Khan was killed. Kasab lay motionless playing dead. Assistant sub-inspector Tukaram Omble, who was armed only with a lathi, was killed when the police charged the car. Omble took five bullets, but held on to Kasab's weapon, enabling his colleagues to capture him alive.

Ek Tha Tiger soon in 200 crore club; Shirin Farhad...lags big time

  •
Was it a good decision to release their film just one week after Tiger roared aloud on Independence Day is what the makers of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi are asking themselves! Yes, Ek Tha Tiger still rules the roost and clears the doubt about its repeat value with whopping business. The fate of Shirin Farhad…too says it all.

“Ek Tha Tiger has maintained very well in its second weekend, witnessing a big jump on Sunday. It collected approx Rs. 21 cr nett, taking the 12-days total to Rs 175 cr nett, fabulous! ‘All Time Blockbuster’,” exclaims trade expert and film critic Taran Adarsh.

He further sheds light on the business of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi. “The film didn't show any remarkable growth in its opening weekend, despite a positive word of mouth. It collected approx Rs. 6 cr to Rs. 6.25 cr nett in its opening weekend. Dull,” he informs.

“Shirin Farhad….lacks face value,” says Trade expert and film critic Vinod Merani who further adds, “Lack of content, star value, no substantial good music has worked against Shirin. The opening was bad and what added to the misery were bad reports. The film has so far garnered 6.2 crores of business.”

He goes on to add, “As far as ETT is concerned, till Thursday, nearly 154.21 crores was total business and weekend fetched it 20.74 crores which means total business of 12 days is 174.95 crores approx.”

Trade analyst Amul Mohan of Super Cinema bifurcates the business of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi; fri - 1.60 cr, sat - 2.00 cr, total 3.60 cr. He further adds Ek Tha Tiger: “2nd week: fri - 4.50 cr, sat - 6.75 cr, total 152.25 cr. 2nd highest grossing movie in India. Officially,” he informs.

Lastly, Kumar Mohan of Complete Cinema informs, “ETT will surely make it to 200 crore club this week and Shirin Farhad…’s fate has nothing to do with Salman Khan’s success. The concept of 40 + mature love doesn’t work here in India. SFKTNP has fared very badly at the box-office.”

Exclusive: How Kasab reacted to his death sentence

  • Mumbai: Ajmal Kasab, the face of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks that left 166 people killed, seems to be afraid of his own death.

Apparently, the Supreme Court order upholding the Bombay High Court verdict on Kasab's death sentence caused the 26/11 killer to develop a cold feet.

According to sources, as soon as Kasab was told about his death sentence, he was left stunned. The fear of death was reflecting on his face.

Unlike his reaction during the crucial life-and-death proceedings before Bombay High Court, where he smiled, yawned and played with his uniform, the lone surviving Pakistani terrorist involved in the 26/11 attacks, this time could not hold himself and went down on his knees.

The 24-year-old terrorist is lodged in Arthur Road prison in Mumbai.

The Supreme Court today upheld the death sentence of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack convict Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab, saying that waging war against the country was the primary and foremost offence committed by the Pakistani terrorist.

Kasab and his nine companions who came from Pakistan and attacked Mumbai from November 26-29, 2008, killing 166 people, including 26 foreigners and injuring around 300 others.

India responsible for delayed action in 26/11 case: Hina Rabbani

  • New Delhi: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, on Wednesday, shrugged off their responsibility to act against the conspirators of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. She also snubbed Pakistan’s responsibility to act against the recent spread of rumours that triggered a mass exodus of people from the North-East region over the issue of ethnic violence in Assam.
She will be accompanying President Asif Ali Zardari to the 16th Non-Aligned Movement(NAM) summit being held in the Iran capital. She shifted the blame on India for the delay in action against the 26/11 conspirators.
With the Indian Supreme Court on Wednesday upholding the death sentence on the Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab, India's case for action against others involved in the Mumbai terror attacks got strengthened ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari tomorrow.
While reacting to Indian SC’s judgement upholding death sentence to Ajmal Kasab, Hina Rabbani Khar said that India cannot allow access to Pakistan’s judicial commission for cross-examining witnesses and then expects them to move forward in the 26/11 case. “We have told India what are the requirements to progress on 26/11 probe,” she added.
On the other hand, Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna in reference to SC’s judgement said "I am sure Pakistan will not fail to take note of it," and quickly added that the Pakistani judiciary is also proactive.
Indian officials pointed out that India had convicted some of those involved in the Mumbai attacks through the same set of evidence which was provided to Islamabad in a trial which was not a "show trial".
When asked about the provocative SMSes and morphed pictures of Assam violence being circulated on web, which were found to be originating in Pakistan, Hina Rabbani Khar again blamed India and local media for the situation.
She expressed her disappointment with india and said that allegations of malicious material on internet reached media before it reached Pakistan government in Islamabad.
Asserting that India has provided enough evidence to show involvement of not only non-state actors but also of official hierarchy in 26/11 attacks, the Indian officials said PM Singh will raise the issue of terrorism, which is of prime concern to the country, with Zardari.
Pakistan keeps switching judges, and people inside the jails are using mobile phones to run their network, they said, clearly expressing India's unhappiness over the slow progress of the 26/11 trial in that country.

    Akshay Kumar beats Salman Khan

  • No, this has nothing to do with the box office collections of the movies in which Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar have starred. We agree, Salman Khan's recent Bollywood movie Ek Tha Tiger has become a hit with many and that the movie has already crossed Rs 200 crore mark at the worldwide Box Office in just about 11 days. We also know about the problems which Akshay Kumar-starrer “Joker” has been facing for quite some time now. So how has Akshay outdone Salman?

Sonakshi Sinha, who has acted with both Salman and Akshay, when asked to comment on her experience with the actors, have been quoted as saying, “Both treat me like a co-star. With Salman and Arbaaz it was different because I have known them before I joined films. So we have a rapport. After working with Akshay in Joker, it became more fun to work with him in Rowdy Rathore. He’s so jovial. He makes everyone around him laugh. You form your own equation with every co-star you work with.” Could this be an offshoot of how Sonakshi has fallen out of favour with Tiger Khan?

Priyanka Chopra offends Sachin Tendulkar’s fans!

  • Your favourite celebrity Priyanka Chopra has been hard at work on her forthcoming flick, “Barfi!”. And to make sure her efforts are lauded, the star has gone to the extent of drawing similarities between the hairdo she sports in the movie and Sachin Tendulkar’s mop of curly hair! Does this sound hideous to those who revere the ‘God of cricket’? Yes! When we spoke to a few supporters of the living legend, they were obviously offended. “Oh please, her look is so repulsive! How can she even think of looking like Sachin?” rued DU student, Akshat Gupta.

“A lot of us were disappointed when Sachin got his hair straightened. But if these are the kind of similarities we get to hear then Sachin’s choice – new hairstyle – is still sane,” chuckled Ginni Kapoor. For Dheeraj Sahni, a cricket enthusiast, this statement is nothing but a way of garnering publicity for PC’s film. “Isn’t this ridiculous? Why can’t people stop aping Sachin? If we are so inspired by him, shouldn’t we become as dedicated towards our work? Why should the focus only lie on what he wears and the style he sports? This attempt at focusing on similarities is so annoying.” Bhawna Suri thinks Priyanka was trying to being funny, but the trick hasn’t worked in her favour. “I think she looks like Kailash Kher. I don’t want to offend anyone, but why only associate curly locks with Sachin,” says Deepak Malhotra, another fan of Sachin Tendulkar!
